Third in my “Mend and Save!” series is a sweater which was perfect except for one small hole.
I found this piece for just $1.99.
Here’s the small hole …. probably the only reason it was put in the “give-away” pile and ended up in a thrift store.
As you can see, the repair is really right along a seam line, so it was no trick to fix this! I turned the sweater inside out, and pinned along the seam. I added the additional pins so you can see where I intended to sew. I just made a slightly curvy seam right around the small hole. NO ONE will notice the slightly curvy seam under my armpit!
When sewing this time, I used my regular sewing machine. I began by sewing a straight seam, then finishing the edge with a tight zig-zag stitch. Here you can see the setting on my machine for the tight zig-zag stitching.
And that was it!!! Sweater all done and ready to wear!!!
Don’t throw out your garments which just need a bit of mending! Give them that quick fix and put them back in your wardrobe to extend their lives!!!
