Upcycled Sweatshirt

Upcycled Sweatshirt

Sweatshirts are so comfortable and cozy!!!  But, they can make us look pretty FRUMPY if they don’t fit well.

Came upon this XL denim colored one, tried it on, and decided to upcycle it with some fit and flair!  So, in and out of the washer/dryer, then off to work on it.

Here’s the fit and the look before I began …

First, I decided that it needed some length (because I am tall), so I unstitched that light colored part on the bottom of the front, which then folded downward for some extra length.

After opening this seam to let the fabric down, there were some square edges which needed to be rounded.  I cut a curve on each side.

I pressed this downward, then stitched a seam to hold it in place.

Time to go in for the fit!  I pinned the sides, and then serged my new seams (you could just stitch, then zig-zag your edges).

Grabbing some lace I had on hand, I pinned this along the edge, then stitched in place for a little flair!

I put a lace top underneath, and ……….

How do you like it now???  Comfortable, cozy, and CUTE!!!!

It fits a little better now, don’t you think?
